Whether you’re creating a quiet, comfort-controlled room, or simply want to heat or cool an area without expensive ductwork, ductless air conditioners set a new standard for efficiency, great looks and comfort.
Mini split heat pump systems are much simpler and more economical to install because they only have three basic parts: an outdoor condensing unit, an indoor unit, and the components that connect the two.
Quality Comfort offers mini split installation, mini split maintenance and mini split repair.
What is a mini split?
Mini split AC systems are a type of heat pump (although many people refer to them as ductless air conditioners or mini split ACs), so this means they both heat and cool. What makes mini splits unique is that they are ductless, meaning they do not require any ductwork to install like traditional air conditioners and furnaces. Ductwork is typically one of the most expensive parts of adding air conditioning or heating to a new space. A mini split system is made up of a small indoor unit that is placed on a wall, an outdoor condensing unit and copper tubes, wiring and a condensate drain line to join them together through the wall. With each outdoor unit, there can be multiple zones inside the home. You can control the temperature for each and every zone you create with perfectly placed indoor units. The number of zones available depends on the size and number of outdoor units you choose.
What rooms are mini splits used in?
Because they are ductless, mini split ac systems can be placed anywhere in the home, garage or other area you may want comfort-controlled. Some common applications we have seen are:
- Sunrooms
- Additions
- Upstairs bedrooms
- Basements
- Garages
- Infant/child room
- Attics
- Renovations or retrofits where it’s important to preserve the building’s original appearance
- Replacing window AC units
If you experience hot or cold spots anywhere in the home, a mini split air conditioner will be a much more affordable option to customize comfort in that area rather than rerouting or running new ductwork.
